Is upforgrabs® FREE?

YES, it is free to register, it is free to look, and it is free to receive our newsletter email which lists the new ads posted each day, MOST ads may be posted for free!

How do I register?

• From any page on www.upforgrabsonline.com, click on the Register link in the upper right column.
• Fill out the form presented as accurately as possible. Check the boxes of the Classified Ad Boards for which you want to receive the upforgrabs® email as described above (e.g., if you want to be notified only of Items for Sale, then check only those boxes and make sure none of the others are checked).
• Click on the "Register" link.
• An email will automatically be sent to the email address that you indicated containing your log in password. You may change this password anytime you deem necessary.

How do I change my profile information?

• Login into upforgrabs® using your email and password
• Click on the down arrow button beside your email address and then click on "Account Information"
• Click on “update” to update any information you require; once done, click “update” again.
• If you have changed email addresses because you've changed jobs or Internet service providers, please DO NOT re-register…just log in to change your information
• If you wish for your email address to be removed from our active database altogether - please send the email address of the account to be removed to unsubscribe@upforgrabsonline.com

Will my email address be given to third parties?

No, upforgrabs® will not give out or sell your email addresses.

How do I retrieve my Forgotten Password?

• Go to the upforgrabs® home page
• Click on "Login" in the upper right corner.
• Click on “I can’t access my account”
• Enter the email address which you registered on upforgrabs®
• Click on "Reset"
• “Your new password has been sent to the registered email address" will appear on the page if that email address is actually in our database.
• If that email address is NOT in our database, the message, "The email address specified was not recognised by our system" Please ensure that you've typed the email address correctly or that you've entered the email address that is actually registered.
• An email containing a new password will be sent to the registered email address.
• You will be able to log in with your email address and the new password
• You may change the password by clicking on the down arrow beside your email address after you logon and then click “change password”

Do you offer Classified Advertisement?

Yes, we offer classified advertisements for a number of categories:

• Real Estate-Sales, Short & Long Term Rentals and Commercial Rentals
• Individuals or Businesses offering services or “new” goods
• Resellers, retailers and wholesalers

For how long can an ad be posted?

• Ads can be posted only for an initial period of 2 months at a time.
• If your item(s) is not sold, you may extend your listing for an additional 1 month thereafter.

How do I delete an ad?

PLEASE DELETE YOUR AD when it has accomplished its purpose. Login, then click on the down arrow button beside your email address. Then click on the "Manage Post" and click “Delete” in front of the listing you wish to get rid of.

• The page will refresh itself.

How do I change an ad that I've already submitted?

To change your ad - log in, click on the down arrow button beside your email address and then click on "Manage Posts". Then click on "Edit" in front of the post you need to change. Once change is made, click on "Submit Post". The page will automatically be refreshed.

Ads are posted in the order they are received. Thus, if you submitted an ad a week ago and change the start date to today's date, your ad will not move to the top of the upforgrabs® Board.

What kind of postings do you not allow?

We do not allow postings advertising the sale of ANYTHING illegal or inappropriate including the following:
- Drugs
- Weapons
- Obscene, erotic items/material
- Prostitution
- Adult movie recruitment
We note ALL IP addresses of people submitting ads to upforgrabs® (so there are footprints), and if you abuse this system we will take appropriate action.

Should I watch out for anything on your site?

Yes. There are unscrupulous people in all walks of life and the internet is no different. You must be on your guard, use common sense in all transactions and if in doubt, do not part with your money/goods. Remember, if it seems too good to be true, it usually IS too good to be true. The purpose of upforgrabs® is to encourage face-to-face, local, trading.

What should I watch for when selling my item?

Fraudsters try to get your attention by sending short emails asking for 'more information' about your item. The emails usually don't make any sense!
For valuable items - such as a car - you could ask for either cash, or a bankers draft and offer a receipt as proof of purchase. In the case of bankers' drafts, it is wise to go to the bank together and watch it being drawn.

Why was my posting deleted?

Ads that are reported to us and/or fall outside our postings policies/terms and conditions may be removed from the site. This system has all the imperfections of a democratic system. If you are confident your posting adheres to our guidelines, please feel free to repost it.

I saw an advert that I don’t think should be online as it doesn’t follow your guidelines. How can I let you know that it should be removed?

We actively encourage all kinds of feedback, especially the sort that helps us keep the site free from “rubbish” ads. If you want to report an ad, go to the specific ad, click on “Report Abuse” so we can review it or alternatively, send an email to helpdesk@upforgrabsonline.com quoting the reference for the ad. If we feel it doesn’t belong, we will remove it.
We are also always eager to hear of unscrupulous traders/advertisers attempting to operate in the community. If you have any information you feel would be important to us, please include it when you report the ad to us. This is extremely helpful to us in keeping the site “clean”.

Can you remove an illegal ad?

Yes! Please let us know by sending an email to abuse@upforgrabsonline.com or sending an email tohelpdesk@upforgrabsonline.com quoting the reference for the ad.. When we can establish the legality of such a posting, we will certainly be able to remove the advert.

I think the ad is illegal, how do I report a scam?

We are also always eager to hear of unscrupulous traders/advertisers attempting to operate on upforgrabs®. If you have any information you feel would be important to us, please email us the details. This is extremely helpful to us in keeping the site “clean”.

An item stolen from me has appeared on upforgrabs®.

If you have reason to believe that items stolen from you have appeared on upforgrabs®, please contact your local Police. You'll find contact details for your area in the local phone book and the Police will be able to advise you on the correct course of action.

The advertiser wants me to send cash up front - what should I do?

Don't do it.

upforgrabs® recommends that buyers NEVER send cash or cheques through the post, or place money directly into a seller's bank account, in advance or expectation of receiving goods. We do not advise parting with your money/goods until the transfer of goods/cash is completed face to face.
Watch out for Western Union/Money Gram – it is our belief that these forms of funds transfer are favoured by fraudsters.

I’ve sent the advertiser my money but he has not sent the goods.

Unfortunately, we are unable to interfere in the private transactions between a buyer and a seller. However, if you can provide us with a letter of complaint, we will keep this on permanent file under the member's records. When we receive 3 or more complaints about an upforgrabs® member, we will block the IP address.

I have received an email that I think may be a scam. How can I tell if it is dodgy or not?

There are many different types of email scams that exist, all sent by people attempting to defraud you. You should show caution in all instances, especially with people who;
- Request payment via Western Union (or other online payment methods)
- Request that you send goods before you receive payment
- Claim to have a friend/agent who can pay you an amount greater than the value of your goods, then ask you to send them the difference.

There are scams that exist across the internet today, and we do our best to help to educate people on what to look out for

What measures are in place on upforgrabs® to help protect users from illegal scams?

upforgrabs® works extremely hard at protecting our members. We are constantly changing and updating our tools to make life difficult for anyone attempting to scam someone through upforgrabs®:

- We have warning messages in many places across the site.
- We encourage and rely on upforgrabs® members to "Report Abuse" to us for review if it seems fraudulent, illegal, against upforgrabs® policy or inappropriate.
- We give you the ability to anonymise and hide your email address in your ad, which cuts down on the potential for spammers to send you unwanted e-mails.
- We enable the members to post information about scams on the forum with examples of recent frauds. This is where people can educate themselves on the potential scams that are out there, and offer advice or feedback to help other users.
- We have various policies in place and take various actions to make life difficult for spammers, scammers and other generally not nice people

We treat every instance of fraud or spam extremely seriously and do our very best to protect our users and make your visit to upforgrabs®, safe and enjoyable.
